haha i thought that was one of the sweetest "what if" stories ever! :) awwww.... and it stuck to canon too (canon is law!) - hard to come by good fics like this one :)

Ron is sometimes clumsy with his words, but much less so toward the end of HBP and especially in DH. I tried to include some humor here and there, but I don't think these circumstances lend themselves to a great deal of comedy. I appreciate your comments though. Thanks for the review! |

Every time I want a few pointers on the right way to write Ron and Hermione I reread this story. I can think of no higher praise. So many people turn both into charactures (some of them deeply unpleasant) here we have a coupe of believable, if confused,teenagers.
Favourite quote is from the section which admirably sums up Ron's very human need to apologise, and the inadequacy of his words, because no words are enough:
Tears pressed at the back of his eyes, hard and demanding, but he set his jaw defiantly against them. “We were trapped… we tried everything…” He explained desperately, squeezing her tightly around her back and letting his face fall into her hair. She smelled like blood and shampoo. “I’m so sorry…” he said.
Amazingly, I think I've found an error.

I think that should be
...only supporting her so she wouldn't fall...
Apart from that, perfect.

Hey, Neil! Sorry I missed this when you first posted it. That is definitely high praise, and I am very grateful for it. There are actually many errors in this piece if you look hard enough, though a shiny new updated (more importantly, BETA-ED) version is on that... uh, other site. ;) As for "spotting"... it's not exactly an error, as we use that word over here to mean something along the lines of supporting someone so they do not fall... such as in gymnastics or something. But it could be used in this way too. Perhaps it wasn't the most brit-friendly choice though. I may consider editing it to "supporting." Thanks for mentioning it. I have stayed awake even when I though I was really sleepy, because I found your story and it was worth it. I simply loved the Ron/Hermione moments. They were so romantic and perfect!

The story is nice though one main problem I'm having is that Fleur's English is too good. That's a character flaw that detracts a bit. Well written otherwise.

I recently did a rewrite of this and added in her accent. To be honest, I purposely didn't write because I've seen it done wrong so many times that it's really distracting as well. But I certainly understand that... thanks so much! |

What a wonderful chapter! Man, if only canon could have been like this. Its one of the things I was so dissapointed in DH, we never got an appolgy from Ron for being such a jerk in HBP.

I know. You know though, I think his behavior at the end of HBP kind of makes up for it... the way he was with her after he was poisoned, paying more attention to her than he did to Lavender, then comforting her at the funeral and speaking for them both to Harry, that they would go with him... I don't know. ? But yeah, writing this gave me more closure. Thanks for the kind words and for reading! |

I started this a little while ago then time got away from me.
I enjoyed the whole story, I loved the liberties you took to add time for Ron and Harry to talk. It was fun to read.
