Hi everyone,

Some of you -- maybe more or all of you -- received notifications of support tickets opened -- please ignore these.  Our ticketing system went haywire for a few minutes there and sent some notices out.  We've disabled the ability to send out any more notifications so you shouldn't receive any more of them.

Hello everyone,

I want to apologize for the insane amount of down time the site experienced.  The facility that our server is hosted in suffered a pretty major power issue at around Noon EST today (08/10/2011) causing a whole lot of servers to go down, so it wasn't just this site.

Good afternoon fellow citizens,

We just wanted to let everyone know that we've done some more updates to the site as follows:

1. Author abilities to respond to comments -- there was an issue here where the author's response was not being saved; this has been fixed.
2. Site Speed -- we've added a new caching plugin to the server and the site seems to be a bit faster.  We will be tweaking the settings on this in the coming weeks.

Hello, If you are seeing this message then you are on the new server. Unfortunately some things have not gone as planned that were working fine in the time moving up to the move and we are currently working through those issues. Right now, we see that no one is able to log in -- this is the highest on our list of priorities to fix.

[Update 1]

It appears that the Login issues have been resolved, the support system is still having a couple minor issues, but from what we have been able to tell users are still able to submit trouble tickets so if you have any problems, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Also, moving servers required upgrading the forums completely, so for the time being they have been disabled until we can get the integration up and working again, this will also affect the fanart section.  These two items are low priorities as they have very little traffic compared to the fanfiction area.

We've fixed a few more issues, category viewing, story viewing.  It also appears that some form submissions are not working either.  If you can please let us know if you run into any problems on the site.

We had a misconfiguration happen on our server today for about 9 hours.  Some of you probably saw a message about a site redesign, etc... yeah, just go ahead and ignore that.  It was for an entirely different site.

Good Afternoon!

Just a quick note about some changes to SU.

First:  We have added donor badges that users can show on their profile page.  This option has been turned off by default so those who do not wish to show their donation status to SU don't have to do anything, if you wish to show your donot status simply edit your Personal Preferences and place a check in the "Show Donor Badge Publicly" check box.

Second:  Some small ads will soon be displayed on SU.  Don't worry, these won't be the popup/take over the entire page screen, as a matter of fact these ads will only show up on the main home page.  At this point they will be text ads only and because beggars can't be choosers they may not be an exact fit for the content of SU, however rest assured that we will not allow any ads of objectionable nature.  Displaying ads has become necessary due to the cost of running the server, low donation amounts, but mostly because of unemployment.

As always, we are constantly working to bring new features to SU, so with the addition of ads to SU our next major feature will be something of a paid membership system designed so that any donor who donates (or has donated) over a certain amount will have all Ads hidden automatically.  The specifics haven't been worked out yet, and since the Ads are text only (for at least another 2 months) there won't be a major push to implement this feature.
